opportunity for Quantity Surveyor (QS) / Estimator at Qatar
Job Description & Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for
a) Review Specifications
b) Review BOQ of all tenders
c) Review RFP
d) Review & Preparations of Quotations
e) Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials)
f) Prepare Monthly Valuations
g) Prepare Monthly Payment Certificates for Sub-contractors
h) Prepare Project Cost Estimates
i) Obtain offers from Suppliers
j) Prepare Comparative statements
k) Maintain Quotations \ offer files
l) Proper Documentations & maintain database.
m) Understanding ISO procedures
n) Timely reporting to Management / Authorized
Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering preferred with industry experience & AutoCAD are critical. At least 5- 8 years estimating / site based experience, preferably in contracting / sub- contracting, Marble & construction verticals.
Computer Literacy is essential, particularly with M/S Word and Excel. Previous demonstrated knowledge and experience using M/S Project
Demonstrated understanding of the use of ‘First Principles Estimating’ is essential.
A sound working knowledge of Project Management principles as they apply to the field together with technical engineering is essential to the role. An eye for detail and accuracy with numbers are also primary.
Proven ability to work under pressure, multi tasking, together with the capacity to plan and prioritize workloads in order to meet deadlines is fundamental so too is effective time management of work flow in order to meet tender deadlines.
The capacity to delegate to achieve productivity and efficiency outcomes is essential.
The ability to initiative and possess a positive attitude towards teamwork is critical. The capacity to train and coach other members of the department is an expected element of this post
1. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years to 8 years of construction/contracting industry estimator experience is must.
2. Must also have knowledge of various construction parts and materials needed.
3. Needs to know how to read blue prints for the building drawing.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the Departments of Buildings permits, codes, and requirements need to pass city inspections.
5. Knowledge of the parts/material supplies and providers.
6. Must have knowledge of how to estimate jobs for competitive prices.
Communication
Fluency in English (Read/Write/Speak), Arabic would be preferable, together with high level negotiation and analytical skills are fundamental.
